Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer with expertise in sheet metal designing and 3D modeling to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience using Solid Edge to design sub-assemblies for truck bodies, leveraging sheet metal techniques. Key responsibilities include creating accurate 3D models, generating flat patterns, and producing DXF files for laser cutting. The role also involves preparing detailed PDF workshop drawings and compiling comprehensive lists of materials to support manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

Design and develop sheet metal sub-assemblies for truck bodies using Solid Edge.
Create precise 3D models and simulations for functional and manufacturable designs.
Generate flat patterns and export DXF files optimized for laser cutting.
Produce detailed PDF workshop drawings for production teams.
Prepare accurate lists of materials (BOM) to ensure efficient procurement and assembly.
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility and quality standards.
Troubleshoot and refine designs based on feedback from production and testing phases.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Proven experience in sheet metal design and 3D modeling, preferably in the automotive or truck body industry.
Proficiency in Solid Edge software for modeling and drafting.
Strong understanding of laser cutting processes and DXF file creation.
Ability to interpret technical specifications and create detailed workshop drawings.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with material selection and BOM creation for sheet metal fabrication.

Preferred Skills

Experience with other CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) is a plus.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes like welding, bending, and assembly for sheet metal components.
Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
